B-112 Mower Belt Help

I just bought an AC B-112. I got a new belt from a Simplicity dealer to run the mower. The belt lasted 2 days and broke. The bearings in the deck have been replaced and everything turns freely. There are 2 pulleys on the pto that the belt could go to. I had it on the larger of the two. I assumed that which pulley you use is determined by which holes you use to mount the mower deck to the axle. Also, does it matter which way the belt twists from the deck to the pto? Any info appreciated.

Yes, the belt goes on the larger pulley, and it matters which way the belt is installed. That may be what caused your problem. Start with the information below, and see if that solves your problems. If not, we'll still be here...[A href='http://www.simpletractors.com/operation/42_mower/42_rotary_mower.htm'][img src='http://www.simpletractors.com/images/mower1_ops/figure3_small.jpg'][/a]

Yes you used the right pulley, the smaller one is for the sickle mower. There is only one way to twist the belt, the wrong way will spin the blades backwards. There is only one mounting hole (furthest back) for the deck and all attachments. I don't know what the forward hole is used for? I have used it on my pulling tractor to mount the front weight bracket. Good Luck! Mike S.

Watch out for any belt guards. If a belt is not installed under a guard, it will self destruct in short order from dragging over it.

Mike, if he's refering to the holes in the ears on the front of the axle they help hold the snow blower locked in, only use I;ve seen for them other than my home made front wt.. MPH
