Center PTO conversion on 7000 series.

I have a 7014 that I would like to convert the center PTO/idler assembly to the 7100 series to run a snowblower off the center PTO. I have seen posts talking about it. I was wondering if anyone has actually done it. If so, could you tell me how you did it?

I have done it - almost. Biggest obstacle is finding a belt of the right length. I sold my thrower before I finished the project. You need a center idler setup off a 7100 series with the 2 "ears" for the spring loaded idler and need to fab a bracket to mount the larger "fixed" idler pulley to. You really need access to a 7100 series to copy from. See post below or do a search for "hybrid" to see Dutch's solution. I think I still have the bracket I fabbed and the extra 7100 series idler shaft/bracket (minus the idler pulley) if you want to continue the research you can have them. Another link to an old post on the subject.[A href='http://www.simpletractors.com/clubhouse/ShowMessage.asp?MsgID=2821&mode=short&startwith=2040']http://www.simpletractors.com/clubhouse/ShowMessage.asp?MsgID=2821&mode=short&startwith=2040[/a]

I've never done it, but like Brent said, getting the correct belt length is one obstacle. The 7100 series wheelbase is longer than the 7000 series. If I were to do it, I think I would make a couple of hitch extensions and use the 147" 7100 series factory belt. Unless you use the front PTO and 2 pulley hitch, hooking a snowthrower to a 7000 series will require some fabrication. That's why I made the hybrid hitch. The hybrid seemed liked the easiest and cheapest solution. It has worked flawlessly for me, and hookup is a snap. You don't have to relocate a pulley and adjust spring tension everytime you switch from mower to thrower.

That sounds great Dutch but, unfortunately I am not a welder nor a fabricater. Sounds like my best option is to try the 7100 pto conversion. If anyone has a 7100 series or AC equivalent I would greatly appreciate if you could email me a picture of the pto and idler pulley assembly with measurements of the mount on the frame portion. Thanks for everyone's help.

I just found the parts and made you a video of the setup on a AC900 series (sim 7100) and on a 7000 series. The bracket I'm sending you has holes drilled to match existing holes in the 7000 series frame so you won't have to guess where to mount (assuming your 7000 is the same frame as mine). Hope the video is ok. I never thought about Dutch's suggestion of extending the thrower hitch out the same distance as the frame difference between a 7000 and 7100 series allowing you to use the 147" belt. That may be easier than finding a 130-something" belt and I don't see why it wouldn't work. Please keep the club informed. Hope it works out for you. Brent
