Hi I've got an early t16 that I inherated from my dad. He bought it used in 76,but I'd like to know what year it is. The numbers I found on the left side of the original 16 hp Briggs, under the carb. and above the decal that said model and a bunch of other stuff that we're unreadable we're326431-0133-01 7212141 . It has the elec.PTO. If anyone can help me I'd really appreciate it. I'd like to restore it. It wouldn't be to hard because he had the motor rebuilt not to long ago. Just needs paint, seat recovered and new decal on the rear T16. Like I said, any help would really be appreciated. Thanks Phil

The engine was manufactured on December 14, 1972 (721214). Tractor was probably made 1st half 1973.

I think Dutch hit the nail on the head. I have a 1974 T16H that has been an excellent work horse for me. I'm sure you will be just as happy with yours as I am. Looking forward to hearing how your project is going. Scott

Here's a photo of a T16 from a Homelite brochure. Check out the link for Jack Lindstrom's nice T12 restoration. Jack can probably help you with the correct color.[A href='http://www.simpletractors.com/gallery/homelite_t-12.htm'][img src='http://www.simpletractors.com/images/homelite/t-16h.jpg'][/a]

I did it by interpreting the engine code you supplied. 7212141 72=year 12=month 14=day 1=assembly line. Check the link http://www.briggsandstratton.com/MainSite.asp?CategoryID=61&lrID=1&ParentID=7&MSCSSID=1234&MB=&EPAGE=/main /RealBriggs/WebSite/NA/EN/support_maintenance/number.mb&l=0

Phil, does your hood look like the photo? T16 come 2 ways. One by Allis Chalmers and the other by Simplicity. There are some major differences. SmilinSam where are you? Woody Forgot to add. If your dad repainted as I did years ago he may have painted over the ID plate next to the right foot rest. If he did some lacquer thinner on a rag and a little rubbing will remove the paint so you can see the info. Don't rub too hard. If your hood looks upside down compared to the picture yours is made by AC.

I'm right here. Actually. I've been in this chair so often lately I'm thinking of moving the stove and refrigerator out by the computer, Ha! Anyhow, here's the link to my 72' T-15 in the Gallery. Fire away with the questions and I will answer if I can.[A href='http://www.simpletractors.com/gallery/happyjack's_inspiration.htm']http://www.simpletractors.com/gallery/happyjack's_inspiration.htm[/a]

Phil, The round light version of the T16 is the AC version and has the upside down hood. That was the first Homelite I purchased around 1978. I still have it and it looks beat but will be restored just as you want to do with yours. It's a good way to remember your Dad.

Thanks Guys, I appreciate all the info. I'll get a picture of it in here as soon as I can get it out of the garage, and give it a bath. Talk to you later. Phil
