Oil Level?

I have an AC B-112. What is the proper indicator of the oil level. The oil fill has a cap, but no dipstick. Should the level come right up to the cap? Thanks.

It should come to the level of blocking the bottom end of the filler tube, without filling up the tube. If you fill the tube, the oil level will be TOO HIGH. Some engines had long filler tubes -- mine has a dipstick, but it sounds like your's doesn't. This picture shows the "older, basic" setup, though some people put pipe nipples or longer tubes on these to make them easier to fill. I just use a small funnel on this style. It holds slightly under 2 quarts, so start checking the level often at about 1-1/2 quarts and don't overfill....
