my 64 restore update 1/25/13

well the start of it anyways been taking it apart and cleaning it as i go sand blasted primed and painted it . not happy with the quality of the simplicity paint but it matches perfect just chips very easy trying to find a good tough clearcoat to go over it well heres the start

I used that same paint on a deck last week, great match, but I dont expect it to hold up. I'd sure like to know what Simplicity used, even with no primer it's tough stuff.

Looking great, might be going to Newton tomorrow, I'll stop by and test your paint! LOL

Looks good have you tried the rustolium engine paint for anything, I use the chevy red orange paint and have good luck with it.Did a tractor with simplicity paint a few years ago and not happy,paint is faded already, maybe Clear coat is a good idea

The Simplicity branded paint should be decent if it is baked/long term dried. A hardened bucket bought enamel(not spray can) should be the most durable option once it cures. When you use it out of a bucket(brush or spray gun) you can use a hardener catalyst made by Valspar through Tractor Supply. I have used it on my 64 LL and it has held up well to 3+ years of commercial use.

well got most of the control rods cleaned and painted today will get some pics tomorrow figured at this pace it should be ready by spring still havent torn into the motor thats going to be fun

well its been along time scents ive posted updates but its starting to look like a tractor again , wouldnt take so long but everything i go to put back on needs work or rebuild but it will be new when im done .
