Free simplicity 700

I just picked a free simp 700 the wife did not mind because of the price.I can use it for parts or I may try to restore it. It is pretty rusty but I will try to free it up and see about what is going on with it.There is also a free yeoman 627 but I could not fit that into my truck at this time. I will go back and get that at a later date. The 700 has a 42" mower deck and a rear lift for a roto-tiller or a plow. It also had the pto pully for a roto-tiller. There was also a set of cleat tires like the big tractors. John

Thanks I have a 1962 Montgomery Ward garden mark which is the same as a simp 725 I believe the 700 is older. What year did they stop making the 700? I also have a parts manual for the 725 and all the parts are the same as a 700. Do you have an owners manual?

I think it was 60 or 61? I am not exactly sure, some parts are different between the two, but overall mostly the same, I think I have the owners manual for it, I will have to double check. I like the 700's since they are the most "primitive" they are also the most easy to work on, I hope you enjoy your 700, I sure enjoy mine, good luck,-BradW

This "primitive" talk about the 700's is making me miss having my 725 up and going, think thier about the same from I can on this site..MPH

The seat is shot and I just wasted a whole can of wd-40 on the 700 there was oil in the crank case and I could move the crank a little but I have not pulled the plug to see how free the motor turns.I think that this tractor is more primative than my 725 because of the rust. I will try to post a picture soon. John

If ya ever need a muffler for it I reccomend a doing a "stack muffler" by means of the instructions I sent in for the DYI section, it looks good, sounds good, and is a heck of alot cheaper than a new muffler from Simplicity anayways, good luck.-BradW

I just recently got my own 700. Every time I look it over I like it more and more. That most "primitive" idea that BradW mentioned is what I find most appealing as well. John, contact Simplicity and get their large frame tractor manual and you find most everything you need to know about the tractor. At first it will appear to be about the newer tractors but if you look closely your tractor info will be in there. Woody

I had both a 700 and a 725 and found most parts interchangeable. Easy machine to work on (other than normal rust problems) and easy to use. I could pop the tiller on in about 90 seconds and the single stage snowblower worked great.......now I have one of those green things and it takes 30 minutes at least and still throws belts while running. I'm waiting for snow to see how well it works but haven't heard good things about the single stage on this one. Let me know if you have any questions, Ken W
