Model 4040 Questions

Would appreciate a manual showing engine breakdown for my Simplicity 4040. Dealer sez stator is shot for it is not charging my battery this season. He has no parts. Any around?

Picked this 4040 up from moving out neighbor for $500 and put another $500 into it. It flat cuts grass with the 60" mower deck.

What tiller would fit this? Model # ?

Here is nearly everything you need except the part #. Connect the giant 48" rotary tiller to the cat 0 three pt. hitch and (factory installed) PTO. Engine speed: minimum 75% (2700 rpm). Tranny: 1st gear. Hydrostatic Lever: to make good 1 mph. I mentioned the 3 pt and PTO because if got them with the 4040 for a measely, tiny $500 .......#$%^&.

Part number for the tiller is 990696, your tractor should have a 3 pt catergory O hitch with a 2,000 rpm pto, the 4040 tractor according to the book could have been bought without the hitch and rear pto. most of those tractors were sold with the hitch installed at the dealer.any after market tiller with a catergory O hitch and runs at 2,000 rpm's will fit on that tractor. If you need a stator I can order it for you the part is still available, please e-mail me if your interested. Good luck

There is an aftermarket tiller for the 4040 and 9020 tractors. It is made by Beefco Mfg. Co. in North Carolina and it has the correct shaft you need for the female tractor end and runs at the correct 2000 rpm speed. I have their address if you need it as I bought one for my AC 720. It is fairly expensive but worth every penny as it does a great job. Also, I have a 9020 which has similiar electrical charging problems. My dealer is currently getting parts to fix it but they are quite expensive. If you run the tractor without charging properly and use the front PTO, you can damage the electrical PTO clutch so I'm told. RoyG
