After getting the dimensions from GregB. I decided today to make me one like he has on the front of his 917H. It didn't turn out bad. I may do some revamping of the one I made last fall so that I can use suit case weights on the rear. I like the one I did last year but the weight is so heavy to lift.http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=119844&SearchTerms=weightThanks Greg for posting the dimensions. I changed the width to 14" so that it was the same with of the frame and used 1/2" plate on the front. I also drilled the mounting holes in the same location as the 3 holes that were already in the frame so that I can move it to other 900 - 7100 series tractors. Now when is the "end of season" markdown?

I am sure it can be done. You are referring to one like this for suitcase weights and not a front counter weight correct?

id="quote">Yup, that's what I was thinkin. I use the extra holes on the fron taxle to mount my counterweight out front when it's not needed for countering a rear attachment, but there's no good way to add more weight to it. I guess it's not a necessity, but thought it might be a fun twist on the fabrication above.

Nice job...Very heavy duty dOdIs the thicker front plate for the slot in the suitcase weights to hang more snugly? good design...

No, it is for MTD suit case weights. They don`t use a rod. I don`t believe they will go anywhere. It will hold five, but I think 215 pounds plus the bracket itself is a bit much for the front. My manual for my 38" tiller says I only need the 35# each front wheel weights.

I made me one of your front axle supports last week to put the front axle into shear. When I get it back from the sandblaster guy, I am going to install that. It made quite a bit of difference in the front axle.

Not trying to steal Ray's thunder, but I just thought I would show the front weight system that I made about 20 years ago when we were doing garden tractor pulling. This one mounts to the holes in the brackets on the front axle so that it will fit any of the large frame tractors. These pictures are with it mounted on my 61 Wards (Simp 700) but it also works fine on the 7000 series. Here it is with hang on weights:

Here it is with barbell weights bolted on to it:

Picked up a weight carrier off Ray, and the mailman finally dropped off something to hang on it. This carrier is stout, to say the least. Now we need something for the back, for the same weights. ;)

Well, I was going to throw on one of the CarryAll boxes, to take down to the mailbox and back. I had 200# of tractor parts in the mail today! I can't 'carry all' that by hand, with tractors just sitting there begging to run. It's a vicious cycle....
