oily engine

I have an Allis Chalmers 616 with the 16hp Onan ccka engine. It's blowing oil out the oil fill tube. The manual says to check the oil pressure but I don't know where or how to check it. Does anybody out there know? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Sounds like you are getting "blow by". Some pressure from the combustion chamber leaks past the rings into the crankcase. This pressure is supposed to be minimal and is to be sucked back into the intake manifold via the carbruetor. One problem might be the crankcase breather or the hose from the crankcase breather might be clogged. This could creat excess pressure in the crankcase. Check the crankcase breather and tube and clean out. Second, your oil dipstick has an o-ring on it to seal at the top of the tube. Make sure it is sealing good there. That would be another point of exit of the crankcase pressure gases. Steve
