Lost all the notes and trying to reconstruct them. Until then, if your planning on it, here's what your in for:
Mod 402437 Type 066601 Ser# 83032912

1. Slightly alter bolt holes of double belt drive pulley by fileing.
2. Fabricate engine bed for rear half of engine. 4x4" p.t. wood bed w/C channel section.
3. Fab two Z hold-downs for front half of engine resting on battery platform.
4. Switch to garden tractor size battery, or forfit front shaft.
5. Remove stiffener web from cowl.
6. Fab 2 brackets to lift cowl 1" and push forward 1.
7. Fab replacement air guide section for muffler or alter sides of that section of air guide.
8. A slight rewire job and a couple of wires leftover for your enjoyment.
9. There is light metal cutting, drilling, fileing, and mig welding.

I did my best to avoid metal cutting and welding so the job could be done by the average DIY person. Alas, into each life a little rain must fall. !@#$%^&*()+. I'll try to get some after the fact pictures for Kent to go along with the nasty details that I will ship to him. It was a long time coming and want to get this part over with. Am working on a refit dirt/snow plow and fabricated mount system to connect to the front attachment mount.

It's a shame you went to all that trouble because
parts for the original Onan are still available. I
happen to be working on one now and other than a
clutch problem, and it generally suffering from abuse
and old age..it's a great running machine.
I'm an Onan dealer and I love these old machines. I'd
trade for this one just to keep it around but my
machinery shed would be full and my bed empty.

$1600 for tractor and engine. Short block delivered = $2000. Flywheel + rectifier/regulator and other misc parts = a lot more big bucks. How much longer will parts be available? Doesn't matter, I just can't afford it, that's why a used engine was used as a replacement. The tractor has another 20 years on it. Into each life ... a little flood or so it seems.

I'm building a database of "good" used parts for the
Onan CCKA-MS/2026G Engine and a few other which were
OEM equipment in many of these older machines. The CCK
series was one of our best engines but was built under
many different configurations. I'll be happy to work
with anyone who needs parts or service info. Bob

I definately agree with Stan. Putting $1985.00(plus a lot of time and trouble)for a new shortblock into a 25+ year old garden tractor just doesnt make much sense to me. Engine replacement is the better alternative. The labor alone would probably pay for the replacement engine.

Thanks Stan!

In my humble opinion, at least in the case of AC 620-720 tractors, Onan engines stink!! at best!

Hello glad I got on this site. I hope to upload a couple of photos of my Simplicity Broadmoor
Model 707 Tractor. I have replaced all the belts on it and installed a new ignition switch.
Have a mower deck which was in poor shape , repaced a couple of bushings and welded the
deck where there was some holes. The tractor and mower deck came from a friend and the
mower deck metal was getting pretty thin. Some new metal was put in it and we also undercoated the underside of the deck. This was done by my friend Greg Toulman.
I have not put the mower deck on the tractor yet, waiting for Greg to come home and give me a hand. Can you please tell me if there is a manual for the mower deck and where I could get one.
I would also like to get some moon wheel discs as well.
I will try and down load some photos of the tractor when my wife shows me how to.
I really love driving this tractor and also how well it is made compare today's tractors, especially the flexible rear end and the rollers.
      Tell the next time
      Paul
