Last weekends Simplicity 7790 find.

Hello, Seeing as I am the new guy on the site I just wanted to share a few pics of my first DIESEL tractor. I found this tractor about 20 miles from my home here in Wisconsin. I was not very informed on the specs and had little to no knowledge of this model tractor and was VERY LUCKY to be the 1st of 25 callers (the 1st 2 hrs the listing was posted)on this tractor that was listed on Craigs list. The 1000.00 dollar asking price is what scared me the most as the highest amount I had ever paid for the previous 30 tractors I have bought have all been under 300.00. Needless to say, the 900.00 I paid for it seemed like a excellent price for a tractor of this caliber. I will be learning a lot more about this sweet tractor in the future I am sure. I hope that there are a few other 7790 owners available on this site to help me out with my stupid questions? Thanks.P.S. If anyone knows of a heatsheild for this tractor PLEASE let me know.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Engine specs are as follows:

Engine Type: Lombardini

diesel

2-cylinder

air-cooled

Displacement: 789 cc [48.2ci ]

Bore/Stroke: 3.386x2.677 inches [86 x 68 mm]

Power: 18.5 hp [13.8 kW]

Rated RPMs: 2800

Starter volts: 12

The cut down idea on a semi heat sheild is a great idea that I may have to pursue. If the PRES of the site has the same tractor, I am good hands!! Thanks, Wiz

that looks awesome. So hard to find them that clean. The mower deck itself looks to never have been left outside.

On another note, I think one of the members used to pull with one of them, maybe he could give some tips on how to get a little more hp out of it. :D

Nice find!

Haha, Dad always said there's no such thing as too much power. Regardless, still jealous of your beautiful find. Heck, even the gas cap looks new.

One correction...the rpm is 3600. That is why it makes an awesome pulling tractor. It has the torque of a diesel and the rpms of a gas engine. We had to defend that rpm at many tractor pulls...everyone thought we were cheating, until we showed the specs on the engine. When we pulled in open classes we opened it up to 4200rpm, and it produced more hp at that rpm as we could run gearing to run faster without losing power. At 4200 and with overdrive pulleys we pushed 10 mph down the track...with a stock engine. OO

Notice the nice visable carbon footprint...yea the pump was turned up just a little bit. :I
