Log splitter ram rebuild?

Recommended Posts

Do any of you Milwaukee area guys or gals know of a good place to take my ram to get rebuilt? My 40 plus year old homeade log splitter started leaking oil out the ram to the point that it needs to be fixed. I got the ram off, just need to find a reasonable repair shop. Thanks for your help.

I dropped it off yesterday and got a call back today, job is done. They honed the inside of the cylinder as it has some pitting etc (hard to imagine since it has sat outside for 50 plus years) and put all new seals in it. Said if he was billing someone it would be $255, but would settle for $150 cash. I don't have anything to compare, but assuming it works fine, that seems reasonable. A new ram would have cost $250 plus and I would have had a lot of work fitting it to the splitter again. This should take me 20 minutes and I'm back in business.
