help with carb

I bought my daughter an old landlord to push snow and the float was bad. The new float is plastic8Cand so when I try to get the float level high enough I can't. You just can't bend the needle tab on the plastic like you could on the old style metal float.Has anyone else run into this? and how do you solve it.

I just worked on a newer unit that had a plastic float but the tab was still brass and adjustable.
