Had been looking for one of these for a while when this one popped up on Craigslist about 15 minutes away from my House. The seller posted it around 10:00 pm and not knowing this I had a text from my brother that I didn't see until 5:00am the next morning. I wanted to call right away but I waited until 7:00am and 9:00am leaving a message both times. So now thinking the worst I thought it was sold. Around 3:30 the phone rang and I couldn't get there fast enough. Not a complete unit but good enough for me so here is what I did.

Bought a Pully from SEPW

gin3.JPG

Mounted on the 920 Diesel, I Started making the Hitch for the platform.

gin4.JPG

Made the platform out of 2x2 angle and some 3/8" plate material.

gin5.JPG

Boxed in the ends. Kinda heavy.

gin6.JPG

welded on some tabs for the belt cover.

gin7.JPG

welded on a upright for the adjustment rod.

gin8.JPG

I made the Adjustment Rod out of 316 Stainless steel, with a washer welded in place.

gin9.JPG

needed to add a idler wheel to an existing hole in the sideplate.

gin10-1.JPG

Now the belt clears the Oil filter.

gin11.JPG

Found this at work.

gin12.JPG

I've done some cutting on it in the past.

gin13.JPG

All trimmed up It came out to be the perfrect size.

gin14.JPG

A little Rattle can Paint.

gin15.JPG

And a AC Decal from the Folks at Vintage Decal.

gin16.JPG

It also mounts on my D10 Diesel.Cranked it over and plugged in the fan.I couldn't be Happier with it.

Jeff,

It seems like a lot of work to just run a fan. Won't it be easier and faster to just run the AC in your car if you need to cool down.

Good find, and nice job. I have wanted one of those for a long time.

Rick.........

Thanks guys, I enjoy projects like this.

I had no Dimensions, other than pictures from "Talentedmrgreen" and a few others to help me see how Simple this Bracket was to make.

Be sure you check generator RPM to insure that that get close to 60 HZ or 3600 RPM under load. I am guessing engine should run about 3700 rpm before load is applied and then the engine will settle in to around 3600 rpm. There is a lot of frequency sensitive equip out and about that is easily destroyed by not maintaining 60 HZ. Motors and light bulbs are not on the list. But logic in refrigerators , furnaces, computers and the like might be, and could be put out of commission real easy.

Cool - I wonder why there wasn't a hitch? I found an NOS generator at a dealer a few years ago, but he had sold the hitch. I bought the generator and figured someday I will make a hitch like you did - nice job.

PS - what are those tires - they remind me of the old Firestone 26x12-12's from the 1980's?
