I would guess it is home made. It does look kind of unique, and yes, you would get some engine heat. I suspect you would also get a good bit of exhaust, and I am not a fan of having to tip the whole thing off to open the hood. I had one that I had made for a Gilson a while back that was like that, it worked ok, but tipping it off couldn't happen inside of the garage, so had to get it outside to check oil, etc.
