Definitey a unique power steering install. Also an interesting tread pattern on the rear (ag?) tires.

Just when I thought my family had unique fabrications!....wonder if you can see well with that wheel right in your face like that?

I remember that too Bob (worked on a farm 35 yrs ago), Standing while pulling the baler, raking hay or spreading manure with the big AM radio blasting WLS (Chicago station) static at me...and loving it :D

:DHaha:D I wasn't there 50 years ago, but I used the same equipment they used (older actually) and can remember doing a bunch of standing and "strong arm" steering (especially on our WD45 Diesel with the WFE). When I was a kid, most of Dad's equipment was classified as antique, while the rest of my friends' farms had new Magnums or Deeres. Of the ones we owned, the only one that I had trouble seeing over was our Cockshutt 50 Diesel. I don't know if people are familiar with that brand or not, but they were the same as the Co-Ops. It had the steering wheel right up in your face. The steering shaft, believe it or not, even ran right through the radiator! I guess I was lucky none of our Allis were made with the steering wheel up in your face like some of the other brands. Over the year's we've had: several WDs, WD45, two WD45 diesels (one with turbo, one converted to a D19 gasser engine), D17 series I, Cockshutt 50 diesel (now with turbo) Cockshut 570 diesel, 220 with cab and front-wheel-assist, three 7060s, 7020 high crop, 175 with turbo, 185 with turbo. Most of the newer ones dad bought after I went off to college. I guess he must have had more money at that point, or else he didn't want me tearing anything nice apart while he was at work. :QThanks for bringing up a lot of good memories BLT.

That is an interesting steering set up almost like the steering unit is one of those real low RPM hydraulic pumps they put on Golf Course spreaders if so it probably works pretty good.

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
