I'm certainly NOT a pro -- I fumble my way through whatever I accomplish... Some thoughts: 1) Change the oil and put in 5W30 2) Grease EVERY grease fitting before the fittings get too cold to take grease well. Put a drop of oil on linkages -- it's amazing how much stiffer they get when cold. 3) Clean the air prefilter and replace air filter, if needed. It'll likely have accumulated a lot of dust and dirt from mowing. If you have a heat deflector, install it. 4) Check the snowblade or throat of the snowblower for signigicant rust. Sand and paint, if needed. 5) Mount the blower or blade and test drive it to make sure everything's OK, and ready for use. 6) If using a blower, make sure you have a spare belt handy (learned that lesson last year in the middle of a 24" snow) 7) Also, if using a blower, make sure you have WD40, Pam, or something to lubricate the throat of the chute. 8) Mount your tire chains and weights, if needed. 9) If you're still energetic, clean, inspect and prep your mower deck NOW... before you put it away for the winter. I'm sure I've forgotten something important, but I won't find out until it's too late... ;) Kent
