Stanley DR-29 muffler - max Hp ?

Recommended Posts

I recently noticed the cheap pepper pot ($4) on my 16 Hp briggs single glowing red on the inside at night. This led me to suspect that the muffler may be causing too much backpressure. It is 1" ID, but doesn't have as many holes as the muffler advertised by briggs for the 9-16 Hp motors. ( http://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Muffler-Briggs-Stratton-393232/dp/B000GH0O3K )

BLT's link to the Stanley DR-29 ( http://www.ruralking.com/agriculture/tractor-parts-accessories/tractor-truck/tractor-parts/deere-tractor-muffler-70343.html ) made me curious. Given that this is for a 12 hp, will it have enough flow for a 16 Hp?

Yes, it will work fine. The Rural King muffler is a John Deere knock off. I have the John Deere version on a 16hp. The thing nice about these is they blow the exhaust out the side. Instead of on the front axle or in front of the tractor where you end up driving through it.

I like the Nelson OEM muffler Simplicity uses but this JD muffler seems quieter. Probably because the discharge is out the side. Who knowssm00. The one I have from JD is probably made by Nelson as well.

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁
