B10 Restore Project + 7/5/13 DONE! Pics

Recommended Posts

RandyBuxton

Finally, after the distractions and responsibilities of everyday life, I have found a few hours to start my restoration of the B10 I bought a couple months ago. One of the delays was building a sandblast cabinet. It works great and will make this job easier than it would be without, no doubt. Here's the first installment of pictures from day one (6 hours worth).

Here's what I bought.

Yep, cabinet turned out great. Hook up the shop vac to the port (upper left), switch on the interior light, and let 'er rip.

Neat cabinet. Did you use a bucket blaster in the cabinet? Did you put some sort of filter on the vent holes?

Bucket of medium on the outside, tube thru the cabinet to the gun. No vent hole.

Welcome Randy! Nice looking progress so far. You'll get taking these things apart down to a science and crank though them faster the more you restore. Sanding and blasting I try to get done all in the same day as priming. If not alt east prime whatever you clean up bc the humidity, at least here, rusts things overnight.

Nice blasting cabinet I might need to build one so i can blast bigger parts :D

Got the freshly painted starter/generator attached to the engine. Bolted to the workbench for a test run. Turned over flawlessly! I don't know though if fuel should be dripping out of the bottom of the carb when the engine isn't running. I presume it is normal since there is a hole there.

It's common. Here's a recent thread where some guys talked me through how to stop mine from doing the same thing. http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=123717

Finished the paint job today. After a lot of back and forth on what paint to use I went with the Martin Senour Crossfire Acrylic Enamel (4333) purchased at NAPA Auto Parts in Front Royal, Virginia.

Nice job Randy!!! Now for the fun part...reassembly dOd

on my last few I went to the farm store where they sell bulk fasteners. Was able to replace every nut/bolt/washer for about $12
