Running Irratic

Recommended Posts

I'm having troubles with my 728. When it idles, it sounds perfect. However, when i throttle it up, it will sometimes backfire, or run rough. I have already tried carburetor adjustments, and no matter whjat i do, it doesn't make a difference. I'm thinking it's either the breaker point gap is off, or the coil is going bad.

P.S. if anyone knows the breaker point gap for an 8hp vertical please let me know I'v gotten three different answer online.

First of all try a different spark plug. They are electrical and also fail at time to time. I was just given a fairly decent JD 826 snowblower that PO said (Same symptoms) was junk and take it away. I putzed with for ten minutes and thought maybe a spark plug. wah La!!

Excellent runner and now on my for sale list.
