Putting a Grease Fittings on the old decks

Recommended Posts

Sure you can, a lot of guys do.

Just be aware, all the grease does is fill the large cavity between the bearings to keep water out.

It will not actually grease the bearings unless you remove the inner seal on each one. They are a sealed bearing.

My local simplicity dealer who has been around for 40years(at least) thinks the grease fittings on the new spindles serve not purpose at all. As was mentioned the spindles contain sealed bearings.

As mentioned, there is no lubrication purpose. Keeping water out is the key.Have you ever tried to slide the bottom bearing off of a rusted arbor that never saw grease??
