The bearings may still be bad. It can be hard to feel the play if the idler pulley is keeping the belt tight. Bearings are cheap, hopefully, that's the issue.

PS Looks like a decent deck, a 42", no?

There is another belt and idler pulley under the covers on top of the deck. That is the idler pulley I was speaking of. Pull the belt covers on top of the deck (two triangular pieces of steel right on top of the deck, with notches around the center shaft) under there you will find the belt and idler pulley. Disconnect the belt and see what you have. The three bolts hold that pulley in place, there is no spline for that pulley.
