LEFT/RIGHT HAND DISCHARGE

The only 48 inch right hand discharge decks I have seen are on the Allis Chalmers 300/400 series. The Sovereign had a left hand discharge deck right up until the end last June. The last Legacy and every Sunstar I have seen have left hand discharge. The newer, smaller Simplicities have right hand discharge decks, but these are, I beleive, 38, 44, or 50 inch.

THANKS LES, I WASN'T SURE ABOUT THAT. I PICKED UP A VACUUM COLLECTION PTO BLOWER BUT IT IS FOR A RIGHT HAND DISCHARGE DECK. THOUGHT THAT I COULD USE IT ANYWAY. JUST NEED TO FIND A LEFT HAND DISCHARGE ADAPTER AND SOME HOSE.

71'-74' Homelites had the right side discharge and used the same decks as the AC 300/400 but with a different hitch piece. Also from what I have seen those deck Shells carried on into the Simplicity lawn tractors(5000 &6000 series) of the mid to late 70's.

Hmmm, this is interesting, guess both my 42 and 48 inch decks, both rt hand discharge, were made for something other than the B112 I got them with. Maybe they left the factory with the '72 tranny my 67 B112 has in it. The unknown history of old iron..MPH

DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHEN SIMPLICITY CHANGED THE DISCHARGE CHUTE FROM THE LEFT TO THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE 48" MOWER DECKS??

Martin, the nice thing about the older units is you can get away with using both kinds of decks, You just put the half twist in the belt to which ever way you want the deck to run. Had a guy here who couldn't figure out why his mower was not cutting right. He was running the blades backwards with the belt twisted the wrong way! Sam

Dutch, heres the pic. The only number on it is on the metal A/C plate, it reads 08781674[A href='http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=487158&uid=431747&members=1'][img src='http://pic2.picturetrail.com/VOL35/431747/487158/5182592.ptp'][/a]

My '79 6116 Broadmoor (AC816GT) has the 48" deck w/ RH discharge. JJ Nemes has a photo of this set up. [A href='http://home.att.net/~jnem/pics/6116.jpeg']http://home.att.net/~jnem/pics/6116.jpeg[/a]

Kirby, I'll bet the blower is for the 300 or 400 series Allis Chalmers, which were right discharge. If you can find the model number on it, try looking it up on this chart. Kirby, Thanks for uploading the photos. I think Kent wins his bet. The tag reads, "Lexington SC" which would indicate the blower was made for an AC 300/400. It appears to be a mirror image of the blowers used on "Port Washington" made tractors. You may have hose clogging problems adapting your blower to a "left" discharge deck. Give it a try. You can use regular home type metal furnace ducting to experiment inexpensively. Your blower is probably quite rare, and worth its weight in gold to someone with an AC 300/400 tractor. You could try advertizing your blower to swap it for the correct one you need.
