homemade 725 shield; will it work?

Try to contain your laughter! While I'm cheap I've also recognized from experiences related here that I may have problems if I don't keep the fuel lines/carb warm this winter while throwing snow. Here is what I propose; this is a first effort prototype made from duct sheet aluminum. While I have a tin can where the original can muffler would go (if I had one), I plan on putting numerous holes in the end of the can to allow exhaust out while retaining some heat from the muffler inside. I could simply remove the can to allow the exhaust to escape. There would probably still be a net gain in heat retention around the carb. Am I completely nuts, or will this do the trick? As always, I'm very appreciative of the experiences of others. Thanks, Galen http://chainsaw.rutgers.edu/~gwork/misc/shield.jpg

I think it would probably work just fine without the coffee can... It should keep most of the snow and ice from getting on the linkage, while it will retain enough residual heat to melt anything that does....

Sure looks to me like it should do the trick. Haven't had time to try making one myself yet and at 25 below I don't need it, it won't snow til it warms up...mph

Should work fine. Does the coffee company expect royalty payments? - ha-ha..
