will it work?

Should work fine.

When I was pulling, I actually ran a 3-speed out of my 61 Wards in my 716 chassis. I made an adapter to produce the additional 4 inches of length that was not in the side plates for the 61 rear. Used it this way for a couple of years, then put the rear back in the Wards and used it for pulling. The 716 got its hydro back and became a worker again. I still have both tractors and both rears. After 20 years of pulling, the 3-speed still works great. Only parts that were replaced was the axle assembly which was replaced with one of the newer type units after I demolished the left hub and found out that all the keyways were pretty wobbled out.

Technically, anything will work with enough engineering and fortitude. Look at your power plant, Aaron.8D

PS I gotta get by and pick up the lights and wheels......

You may need a spare axle, axle tube, and differential, but the transaxle itself is almost bullet proof. We have done a lot of pulling with 2 tractors and have not heard of breaking a transaxle by anyone, except breaking the right side case when you twist open an axle tube (that is what the muffler clamp is to protect).

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
