Shorter PTO belt

Recommended Posts

Anyone running a shorter then 34" PTO belt on a foot dragger.

Mine let go last year so I replaced it with a 3L340 belt. Worked great all season, but now it has started to allow the idler pulley to bump the pulley on the bevel gear box. No obvious play in any of the pulleys so I'm coming to the conclusion the belt has worn out.

The current belt when tight still has alot of slack in the line, as in easily a 1 1/2" of deflection.

Sometimes it is just better off to use a Simplicity belt. The original was an A belt. A 3L is belt, is a 3/8" width. More than likely should have been a 1/2" wide belt from the ones that I have owned in the past. The only belt on these tractors that I am aware of that takes a 3/8" belt is the starter generator.

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁
