Test Hydro in tractor without motor?

Recommended Posts

rickf

Hi

Just picked up a free homelite T16H... sans motor unfortunately. Is there anyway to test the Hydro out without installing a motor? Looks like it hasn't been abused, but would be nice to know before finding something to install.

Thanks for the help - Rick

I have read that this can be done using a drill, but (and I'm probably wrong here) I am not sure a drill would produce enough power to spin the hydro enough to actually get it to pump fluid. Maybe with as much mass removed as possible (i.e. wheels and tires) it could turn the axle shaft.

I used a drill to check a Sundstrand hydro in a 7018 I picked up without an engine a few years back:

Don't see why it wouldn't work if your Homie has a Vickers.

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁
