tiller lift cable / rod

Recommended Posts

Kenh

There was a thread recently ( I can't find it now) about tiller lift cables/rods. My 7116H has a short cable to a rod back to the lift. Looking around I only found 1690404 Rear Lift and it has a cable all the way. It looks like somebody may have been jurry rigging something to get by cheap.

Is this cable still available or does somebody have a source of the swage fittings to make a new cable?

Thanks!

Ken

That cable is for the 7100 series through the Sovereign 18 and Allis equivalents. It will fit all the large frames from the 3300 through the Sovereign 18.

That cable is on page 58 of the first manual below. It is part of lift group 1690404 and is still available new. The part number for the cable is 1657563SM and is $48

1690404 rear lift group has the threaded adjustment.

The cable for the 3300 through 7000 series and Allis equivalents are below. All these types and the newer style you have will work.

Cable part number 174086 has been superseded to 1651454SM and does not have the threaded adjustment on the end. It is 85 dollars and is part of rear lift group 990771, 990929, 990984 and 1690045.

Brettw

Made my own at the hardware store. "Bout 10 bux. Knowing the length, eyelet to eyelet length (41-1/2" - 42") was a huge help. I believe it was 3/16" cable, a loop and a few crimps.

If I had only looked at work I would have found the cable is still available:I $48 my cost. I may try Brettw's way and see what happens. I did find some of the swage fitting at McMaster Carr. $40+ for the fitting and then a little cable. Then you need to find somebody to crimp the fittings to the cable.

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁
