I can't get any help from the local lawn equiment shop. I need a replacement drive belt. The belt on the machine now measures 50-51 inches, the shop sez it calls for a 54 inch and they won't refund if it doesn't fit.

If it is a Variable Speed, the correct length is 54"

Ran into the same thing on a friend's B-112. The existing belt measured 51.5" and it was too loose. Replaced it with the 54" belt (Simplicity #164080) and it is fine. Those belts wear the sides. The new belt was quite a bit wider than the old belt. You may also want to check for excessive lateral play in the pulleys. My friend's pulleys were opening too much. Replacing a couple of inexpensive washers solved the problem.
