Sunstar

I picked this up the other day. Got it for a really good price. It sat on CL for a week or two before I finally broke down and went to look at it. Turned out to be much better than I expected. The orange paint's a bit faded, but aside from that it's in great shape. No rust at all. The PO couldn't get it running right and thought it needed engine work, which is why others passed on it and he was willing to cut his price. When I got it home, I solved the engine woes by fixing some loose/corroded electrical connections. Runs like a top now.I've been so busy at work that I haven't had much chance to play with it yet, but I did mow my 5 acre yard with it this past Sunday and boy was I impressed. This thing's going to be great for pushing snow this winter, too. It's built like a tank.

The Sunstar is a good tractor. Do all the required maintenance and keep the screens and shrouds clean and they will last a long time.

It was a steal...seems you don't find much in the Frozen North, but when you do, it's a great one. dOd

I can't remember anyone ever complaining about their Sunstar. Very nice tractor, congrats and enjoy!

Did you want to tell how much you paid?

Yep, power steering, two speed hydro trans, differential lock, independent rear brakes . . . lots of good stuff. That 60" deck does a great job on my lawn. And I know this thing's going to be great for plowing my long, sloped drive.

I think I might find a loader to put on it. I don't really need it since I'm getting the other tractor, but I kinda want to play around with fabbing the mounts, etc. Think I'll re-read your Quickway Loader Project thread to get some ideas.

Nice tractor. Seems last few years there were "plenty" around for cheap, for whatever reason. I have been looking for a "cheap" one this year and wouldn't ya know, the pool seems to have shrunk.... May have to relist my wanted ad again.

Chris, I put a link here for you, since it got lost to the archives its harder to access. I recommend this kind of project for anyone who likes to fabricate. It is BY FAR my favorite project and the most rewarding, and works great! But I am beginning a 16HP re-power of it...just for kicks sm01 A Kwik-Way on that Sunstar would be awesome!!!http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&topic_id=120977

The Sunstar series is great for loaders and here are a few links of the one I put a Kwik Way loader on a several years ago. It gets more use than any other single tractor including my mower and it would take alot to pry this one from my hands. I have added more weight to the back of the tractor and a few weeeks ago used it to lift the rear of a 97 Pontiac Grand Am that I was scrapping:I

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁
