I handed down my 2012 to my son 3 years ago. After 30 years out on the farm, the engine finally gave out. He found a 10 hp for it and...

They're awesome tractors, that's for sure. My 728 is a little under the weather right now. I'm waiting on the proper tools now, i.e. dial bore guages, hone, etc. , to do the overhaul right. In the mean time I'm truely thankful for back up!

I'll take the oil pan off the 2012. The governor is non-existant. No response. Don't know if there's teeth off, or it's not even there. Then I'll overhaul the original 12hp! Here's a couple from prior posts 11/2008. This one spring of 1978 with helper Amy, my daughter, who by the way has three daughters of her own.

Then fast forward 29 years later... with a "new" deck

Actually, a like-new rebuilt deck from my son's father-in-law. you know, that's truely a testment to just how rugged, and reliable these briggs cast iron engines are. Do the math...30 years times 3.5 hrs(2 acres) times once a week times that was clay soil that grew thick grass, with clover mixed in!
