Mike, I looked into once, because I had a busted magnet ring in my 4041 flywheel. I ended up tradin a spare mower deck for a spare engine with a good flywheel. I didn't look into it further, but what you probably need to do is go to a junkyard and pick out an alternator that would fit, checking to see if it's a one wire alternator (self regulating) and adapt it. Possibly consider some type of flexible coupling off the rear pulley as well? Onan made an aux. alternator for these engines but I think it fit on the other side of the engine from the starter and would interfere with the frame. Paul

Help, There were a number of discussions awhile back about adapting automotive alternators to these tractors with the CCKB Onan engines. Does anyone have any details, model numbers of alternators used, how installed, etc. I'm an accomplished metal fabricator/welder/engineer and while having thought out some of how to do this (my stator is destroyed), there is no sense reinventing the wheel if this has been thought out by others with good results. Any photos? I was thinking of adding a pulley at the flywheel end (for constant drive) since I do not have the rear PTO attachment. Have not really gone further with the thought on it as I need to see what small alternators are available that would fit under gas tank or to one side. Has anyone done this or is everyone adding them to the front? Really want to avoid altering the hood. Thanks in advance!! Michael
