Looking for early hydro info

There are 2 (that I know of) engine pulleys to drive the hydro pump on the B series and same era simplicity tractors.

One is thicker than the other. They do interchange, one just needs more drive shaft spacers.

The thinner one is 157231 and the thicker is 157484

Does anyone know the reasoning ?? Or why specific ones went on Specific tractors ??

Some of the Simplicity manuals say 157231 use on 2010 only

On the website I use to look up parts I get this...

157231 Drivel Pulley (Used On 2010 only) Call Us Select Model

And this list to choose from

2025061 - BIG-10, 10HP

2025070 - B-10, 11HP (S/N 5000 & Below)

2025070 - B-10, 11HP (S/N 5001 & Above)

2025072 - B-12, 12HP

2029903 - B-110, 10HP

2029928 - B-110, 10HP

2029949 - B-210, 10HP

990339 - Hydraulic Kit

990351 - Landlord, 10HP Hydro Lift (ES)

990367 - Hydraulic Kit

990396 - Landlord, 2010, 10HP Hydro Lift

990400 - Landlord, 2012, 12HP Hydro Lift

990433 - Landlord, 2110, 10HP Hydro Lift

990468 - Hydraulic Kit

990497 - Landlord, 2210, 10HP Power Lift

990569 - Landlord 3210V, Power Lift

And If I look at every one of them, everyone shows the same pulley part number 157231 and none give another option

If I look up the other pulley, 157484 I get this list

2029900 - B-112, 12HP

2029901 - B-112, 12HP

2029930 - B-112, 12HP

2029932 - HB-112, 12HP Hydro

2029951 - B-212, 12HP

2029953 - H-212, 12HP Hydro

990434 - Sovereign 3012, 12HP (ML)

990435 - Sovereign 3012, 12HP Hydro Lift

990495 - Sovereign 3112V, Power Lift

990500 - Sovereign 3112H, 12HP Hydro Power Lift

990571 - Sovereign 3212V, Power Lift

990573 - Sovereign 3212H, 12HP Power Lift

I have a customer building a B 10 and would like the "correct" pulley.

Which one is "correct" :o:O:O

With the exception of the B12 and 2012 in the first list, is the cut off 10 hp and 12 hp?

Otherwise, the cutoff is not a year, or round hood vs flat hood, or Simp vs A/c ...

(note: the typos are the web sites,,, not mine)

I can tell you that when I converted my B10 to a B12, I ordered a pulley off of eBay that came off of a B110 (I think, maybe it was a B10). The hole in the center wasn't quite big enough. Had to ream it out just a tad. Not sure why that was . . . maybe the PTO shafts on the 12 hp's are a wee bit bigger than on the 10 hp's?

Actually Dan to make this as clear as mud, there were 3 different pulleys that I know of that were used for the hydro-lifts. I used to have an example of each but I don't think that's the case anymore.

In any case the pulleys definitely seem to split with the 10 and 12 engines also between the 3 piece crankshaft pulley and the newer 2 piece pulley (screen and booster fan pulley).

Thanks Reed, in the back of my mind I thought there were 3 but thought it might be CRS too.

I just read thru both posts and must say that was very interesting. I have nothing useful to add, but thought that was very informative and helpful since I also noticed a differance while doing my B12 vs my B210 sm01

Thanks for finding that Dan, I was just about to look for the Pics to re-post :OI bought the thin one to replace my "homemade" one I put on the Big Ten.Used JB Weld to fill in the space on a mystery metal cast pulley, then cross drilled for the drive shaft bolts. Working fine for 8 years or so. Another use for JB Weld

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
