10 hp problems

Recommended Posts

Got 7010 put back together that I bought a few weeks ago and was mowing with it tonight when it started to run real rough, almost like carb problem. But when I felt the points cover it was really hot so I pulled cover and adjusted points a 1/4 turn closed and started to run great again,So I continued to mow and it started doing it again. Should I be looking at replacing points and condensor? Thanks

If nothing else helps, try checking your valve clearance. As a valve heats up the stem will actually get longer. If you have too little clearance the valve will stop sealing properly after operating for a while. Had it happen on three different engines. Mine started acting up after about 15-20 minutes. Engine would act lean, and opening up jet would help for just a few minuted, then it would act up again. If I shut down the engine for an hour or so, it would again run for 15 minutes or so and I would also have to lean it out again when I first started it.

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁
