Powermax removing clevis bolt

Recommended Posts

Guys, any tips for removing a stubborn clevis bolt on the Powermax front end? This unit has an allen head bolt there (see part# 1 below) and is either rusted in or I am just missing something. The manual shows this as a simple through bolt and bushing, (see part# 4 below) and once the nut is off the back should come staight out? Or is that bolt threaded into the bushing or frame somehow? Also is that bushing pressed in place or simple slip fit when assembled? This unit sat outside for years and I believe it is just rusted in place. Maybe a little heat and persuasion needed......

You'll find it's rusted in place.

Time for a little PB blaster and some gentle love taps.

Just spray it good with PB and thread the nut part way on

and tap on it ,if that don't loosen it beat the heck out

of it .:D

Instead of PB blaster try this.

50/50 mix of 100% acetone and dextron automatic transmission fluid.

Trans fluid is right at hand and acetone is as close as the wife's

fingernail polish remover.(don't let her catch you)

Put it in a plastic spray bottle and it will work faster then

the stuff that is suppose to work.
