What alternate engine will work?

I was wondering what would be a good substitute for the 10hp B&S on my AC B10 besides B&S. Since mine is still not running well, I was going to start looking for another used motor around here and wondered what would work easily. What have some of you all used or know what will work? Thanks.

I stuffed a 10hp Yanmar Diesel clone into my 3210v. It required some cutting on the frame, custom adapter for it's factor exhaust, and custom adapter for a K&N cone air filter.

Runs good. Though I had trouble with a typical lawn tractor battery keeping a strong enough charge to start the engine. Turns out a 2003 Honda Element car battery fits the engine compartment perfectly and no longer do I have trouble with cranking power.

Total cost $600 for engine, $100 for battery, $30 for K&N, ~$60 in misc parts. Probably about 10 hours on custom work.

I did the job because it was interesting to me.

But, I'm on the hunt for a local 16hp to drop into my 2010 Landlord. I hopeful to find a deal at less than $300 for a non smoking good running engine.

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
