Powermax 4040 front clutch question

I just picked up a powermax 4040 and the front pto was welded(bearing was bad, after tearing it down I noticed the friction plate is cracked. I was wondering if any one knows where to get an exact fit replacement clutch. I don't want to spend 50-100 dollars on this one just to have it fly to pieces. There are no numbers anywhere on the old clutch, simplicity shows part #2171556 but I haven't been able to find anything. Any help would be great. thanks

Ebay is your best place to watch. 2 clutches just sold recently 1 was old style $140. And the newer style for $125.

Nothing listed right now, but there rather common.

The issue with these clutches are the bearings so even the ebay clutch may well need bearings. Plus the bearing is almost extinct.

I have a spare clutch I got off ebay. And have found a cheap bearing that can be adapted with some machine work.

Remember to keep all and any parts from the old clutch, one never knows when you could use some part of the old clutch. The coil comes to mind.

found the front clutch bearing, NACHI 6207 40 nsl at impact bearings in san clemente ca. cost is $90.00. Given the difficulty of getting parts for this clutch I might get epoxy to repair the crack in the coil material, order the bearing and see if I cant get it to work. Hopefully its worth the chance.
