Green machine factory tour.

Recommended Posts

I had a unique opportunity to tour the John Deere plant today in Horicon Wi. and I must say other than all of the green and yellow, it was a lot of fun, interesting and eye opening to say the least. While I only had a chance to see a small portion of the operations,I was awed at the amount of robotics and the fact that almost anyone could step into one of the work stations and do the job as it is highly automated to the point of being almost foolproof.

The one interesting fact I came away with is that JD offers 23 different style of steering wheels!sm01.

Other then that, it was a pretty fun day overall.

...... and no photos???.......

I work in a manufacturing plant with automated assembly, and yes, a monkey could do it.

BTW, they are in the same union up there as the plant in which I work.

I have a nephew that works at John Deere's.

His job is to install cabs on the big tractors, the holes

in the cab were drilled just a little off causing the bolt to

cross thread when they used a 1/2 in impact wrench, the

problem was solved by using a 3/4 in impact wrench, never

mind cross threading.

The foreman said "Why would anyone ever want to take the

cab off anyway.dz

I have a friend who works at Harley...Same type of attitude from the foreman on striped bolts and dents....My buddy stops the line EVERY time and the foreman goes nuts. My friend tells them that if that was HIS 30K bike he want NO dents or cross threaded bolts on it. The nerve of this company manager to even QUESTION ANYTHING that is quality related!:(!

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁
