32" tiller bearing question

Recommended Posts

I'm refurbishing my tiller. The manual shows a bearing (part #8151071) with a shield (part #105237) next to it. When I type in the # for the shield on Jack's website, nothing comes up. Does the shield come with the bearing?

Also, it looks like a Fafnir RA102-RRB bearing is about the same as the Simplicity part #8151071 bearing, and a lot cheaper. Anyone ever tried the Fafnir bearing, or have a part # for another after market bearing?

I have a parts tiller here, and the guy I got it from had 2 new bearings for it. It is for the 32" round back. If you want them I will sell cheep.

It rained today, so instead of doing outside work I went ahead and pulled this apart.

I'm guessing someone changed the bearings once before. There wasn't a "shield" between the bearing and collar like shown in the Simplicity parts manual. Instead, it had Fafnir RA102NPPB bearings in it. There's a "shoulder" on the side of the bearing, which I guess serves the purpose of the "shield" piece shown between the bearing and collar in the manual.

Good morning peeps! I’m always searching for helpful information with my AC collection. Hope to find out new information and pass on my own experience in restoration. Here are some pics of my babies. I’m still looking for front rims for the 410 so yesterday I put the 310 wheels on took it for a drive. Working pretty good but still needs some carb work. Gotta get the 310 running next. Have a great day!😁
