Did a little fuel system work this weekend

Well it was a busy weekend with the LL. I had lost my welch plug on the carb so I figured it was time to to take care of the fuel system. There was no point in just putting in a new plug as I had some concerns about the rest of the system. I'm sure glad I did cause man was the carb dirty!!!

I took the carb off for a rebuild, pulled the tank to flush out what looked like chunks of the old fuel gauge float and put in fresh fuel lines and fuel filter.

Here is what the backside of the carb looked like when I pulled it off. Yuk!

Here is the carb back on all cleaned up with the new lines and filter. I didn't take any shots during the rebuild since my hand were so dirty. I think I need a cameraman for some of this stuff.

She runs great now!! Just purrrrrs!

The one problem I still have is that I still get a back fire when I throttle down too quick. What do you think? still a little lean?

Oh and not a DROP of fuel leaks out of the carb after shut down. The float is real nice and it has the non metal tipped needle so it seals up great. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Glad to hear that it runs well after all the work. And it looks much better too.

Hopefully the carb will not leak with time. I my experience, down the road they will start to drip. Maybe the non-metallic needle tip will do the trick.

Run the throttle down a bit and run it for 5-10 sec before shutting it down and it should stop the backfire.

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
