I almost did it last nite

Started mowing last nite, 5 minutes in, threw the center deck bearing on my 48 inch deck. if I wouldn't have have had 2 bearings sitting around I would have broken out the brand new 1999 48" deck, I have changed bearings so many times I can do the job in a half hour. I was as close as ever to using that deck.

I'm not the only one who keeps a spare set of deck bearings around?

Only, the last rebuild, I made sure that the word "CHINA" was nowhere close to the ones I put in the deck. The Peer bearings sold by many Simplicity dealers, are from China. I spent a lot more on this set of bearings, will let you know about how long they last.

As a general rule better quality bearings can be bought from industrial

supply houses for less $$$ than can be bought from equipment parts dept as original replacments.

Went out again next day after about 5 minutes idler pulley for the hydro pump froze up and burned the belt pretty bad, Luckily had a spare idler and belt. Which bearing will go next, this 916h of mine has 100 lives.
