Interesting find

At the swap meet last week, I ran across a front counterweight for a walk behind tractor.

Problem is, it is painted yellow, and sure appears to be the original color.

I had a friend and fellow club member look at it, and he thinks the yellow paint is original too.

All the simplicity walkers were orange weren't they ???

I measured it against my walker, and I know it will fit simplicity, and no one else used the same mounts I don't think.

Any ideas ???

I'll try and get pictures tomorrow.

Never seen or heard of one. In fact, I dont know of any mfg that had a yellow walker....tillers yes, walking tractors, no (at least net yet). Coulda been a municiple or govnt machine (or very old repaint)?

Could have been sold by Montgomery Wards.

My MW badged simplicity model V came with some MW attachments and they were an almost flourescent yellow.

Photo is a bit whased out, but that looks like my Monkey Wards parts.

I first wondered about the bright yellow paint, my disc is all yellow including the wooden bearing blocks, mold board plow is orange with yellow top frame that is unitque to MW, but the snowplow and cultivators were orange.

I guess they figured the "early season" tools should be a bright color so you could find them in the weeds :-)

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
