Assuming it is a Briggs. Get the numbers from the shroud: there should be three numbers, the model, the type, and the code. With these numbers any briggs parts dealer can get you the gasket you need.

Any Simplicity dealer or small engine repair shop will be able to get you a gasket. Just tell them the engine manufacturer and the number off the shroud. I think I saw you say in another forum that it's a Kohler engine. Now you just need the #.

I use gasket eliminator for my oil pans, comes in a tube always fairly handy. It's also known as anerobic sealer, it's not a silicone, only hardens in the absence of oxygen. It works well on close tolerance machined surfaces. Just my 2 cents worth!
