Short block no more

Well I got antsy. I determined the pile-'o-parts M20 needed to be re-evaluated. I decided to use everything outside of block, and build a complete engine out of the new M20 short block. As of this afternoon, it did its first bench run. Purred like a kitten at idle. Sweet. I could not get it to throttle up however. There is no high speed needle on this Walbro carb, there is a solenoid, but I figure that must be working or it would not run? Anyway, I will have to look more closely at the carburetor. I did not see any issues when I cleaned it up, but again, no High speed needle, it must be factory preset. Perhaps there is a bit of junk clogging it. Anyway, the basically brand new M20 is going into storage until I have a use for it, or until someone needs one due to a failure.Three engines shipped, sold, or fixed this week. The garage is getting ready for winter!

Where the air filter neck mounts to the carb, there is (or should be) a vent tube. Clean it both inside the carb and in the neck and you should be gtg.

Good luck.

Everything was cleaned, the breather assembly is brand new factory Kohler, the vent tube is brand new. I am not sure how that would prevent it from throttling up? If that's what you are referring to, I did get it to throttle up after applying 12 volts directly to the solenoid. I will have to check all the connections to the stator, and the rectifier/regulator.
