Two wires to the points, took off, nothing happened.

One wire goes to the starter button.

Maybe I need this explained to me better as I am not the

sharpest tool...

I'll re-state that. Remove only the the the wire that goes to the key switch and leave the wire that goes to the coil connected. If you get a spark, you may have defective switch.

Well I removed the condensor wire, left the one in to the switch and got spark.

Put it back together like that and once again , no spark ?

Also make sure the insulating piece behind the points is in its correct place- I've had them out of place and then the points are always grounded and you never get a spark.

Check the wires where they go through the points cover and see if the insulation has worn off. If it has it can short out.

No not yet.

I have to walk away from it sometimes to figure it out.

Maybe the wire to the points is to old and grounding out ?

going to try to replace it.

Agree on the mega fire. I have one on each of the briggs 12hp 3112, 3212. One has been on for 6 years at least with no problems.

I would always have a problem with the points if the got wet, but no such issue with the mega fire.
