Just got done pulling the motor out of the B-1. Its an 8 horse Briggs so I know its not original, but I'm going to give it a good going through this winter.

It looks like the engine was once a copper color? At any rate, I got out the wire brush and found the numbers:200401-0019-01-6910231.Sorry to ask for yet another manual, but I've been rummaging around in tech tips and I can't locate any.I'd like a parts manual so I can get an rough idea of what it will cost to overhaul the engine, and a service manual for torque specs. Thanks in advance.

It's a CI engine. Gold, bronze, copper, red and black were colors that Briggs used for either OEM and or replacement. I have a 1974 almost new CI that is colored similar to yours. Look in your E-mail box. Manual should be there.

Thanks again Bob.

What does CI mean? My three best guesses are: Commercial Industrial, Cubic inch, and cast iron. Hows my aim?

As long as I have the motor torn down, what color should I paint it?

Copper would be cool, but yellow would be true to original, I guess.
