CCKB fuel pump gasket

Had the dreaded oil diluted with gas problem on Powermax sm02 so bought a new diaphram kit but it only has the diaphram, spring and pump base gasket.sm02sm02 How important is number 19 gasket in this picture? and what is it made of? Will it run ok and last if this gasket is not installed? Seems like the diaphram will seal itself between the two halves of the pump? Thoughts and experience from the group most appreciated! Oh and yes I like the stock mechanical pump despite all the good reasons to switch to electric..

Thanks Ray, the gentleman I bought the kit from from says he has been running them for years without the no 19 gasket. I thought I might do as you suggested and make one. My old one had a rubber gasket mounted on the other side of the diaphram from where the picture shows.....
