Broadmoor parts are common in WI and MN.

I would replace the bracket rather than weld it.

Run a "parts wanted" ad here. Just say that the bracket

you need is right side, the one with the pivot shaft

mounted to it.

no, it is not the same as a B1.

B1 is considered a large frame tractor while yours is a small frame.

However, it is the same on all these....

Yup,

Remove the pulley. You'll also be splitting the tractor.

If memory serves, the pivot rod and the plate are one welded together assembly.

There is a set collar on the front end of the rod that you have to remove to split the machine. Grind down the burr that the setscrew raised and the tractor will be easier to split provided that it was properly lubed over the years.

thanks Tim. yup they are welded together.

is there any trick to getting that pulley off? does it come straight off with the key in? I took the set screw off and i saw the key moves a bit. that's where i stopped until i get the part.

I always heat it a little, then penetrating oil, a day later a little heat, and penetrating oil and tap it to see if I can get the oil to work in. Its a patients thing. Eventually it comes off, just not right when you want it tosm00

any ideas on where to find a cheap service manual for the 728? i have found a couple online but they are 59$ with shipping. i'd like to know the torques and pulley tensions when she goes back together.

Im ready to take her apart but the parts diagram I posted says not to loosen the two hex nuts holding the plate on under any circumstances unless disassembling transmission completely! ok... first is this true and second can I just take them off, install the new plate and tighten to 50 lbs?

Mmmm

well I got her split and the new plate on the rear no problem BUT... the pivot shaft is really really stuck in there on the main chassis sleeve. this is why it cracked i'm sure of that. there wasn't even a zirc for anyone to grease under. just a hole. i have been doing lots of penetrating oil and heat , back and forth, back and forth plus banging trying to minimized making burrs that i will file off eventually when she starts to move. nothing so far. wish there was some way i could put a press or puller on it but havn't figured that out yet. any ideas?
