Magnetron ignition question

Recommended Posts

dentwizz

I am working on converting a 16hp in my newly obtained HB-112:D to magnetron but have a newer generation coil out of a horizontal twin that has the same mounts. Would the twin lead coil be compatible with minimal issues or would it be a bit more trouble than it's worth, or not possible at all? I know the coils are not expensive but I would rather use one on-hand than have to order and wait.

Makes me wonder now if the Magnetrons "double" fire..... Once at TDC of the compression stroke, and once again at TDC of the exhaust stroke.

If that's the case, then I would think it would be ok.

Ok as long as the flywheel is repolarized.

If you end up trying this, the loose plug wire must be grounded to the engine case, not cut off.
