Seafoam Alternative

Hey Guys, I stumbled on something at wallyworld. They have a product called Berryman B-12 Chemtool. I googled it when I got home. It looks like a stronger seafoam. Tons on it and only 3 bucks a can vs 7 or 8. The only thing I did not see is if it is also a fuel stabilizer. Have not gone that far. Guys say Berrymans is stronger then seafoam, which I am a big fan of. Not sure but when I run out I am going to give it a whirl!:D

Michael,

I would be very interested in your opinion of Berryman's. I really like Sea Foam. I use it in both of my tractors, snow blower, boat, and all five (don't ask) of my cars.

Sea Foam has cleared up many problems with all of my engines. If Berryman's works as well, but is cheaper I will give it a try. I may keep Sea Foam around for the boat, I want the fuel stabilizer there.

Hey Rick!

I am not sure if its a stabilizer as well. I agree, seafoam has been a go to for a long time. Wouldn't it be nice to save 5 or 6 bucks a can? LOL. I have 2 cans of seafoam left so its going to be a little while. If others want to do some research the more the merrier!

Tim,

Yes I have five cars and yes all five cars run and I would not hesitate to take any of them on a long trip. The key is knowing which car needs what repair and when each car needs to have the state inspection done or be registered for the next year. Often I feel like a juggler.

Nothing is special about any of the cars, I have one 2013, one 2003, one 2000, one 1998, and one 1997.

And if that seems like a lot, I also have 5 trailers. But only two of the cars have trailer hitches. I only wish I knew how this all happened.

Hmmm, about the 5 cars. I think you're a couple short.

I'm sure you've heard of a tractor for each attachment.

So.... you need 7 cars/trucks - one for each day of the week.

And I think 31 would be overkill for one for each day of the month! But one for each day of the week is just right.

Well if you start to talk about rolling stock my current "fleet" of registered vehicles:

1993 Mercury Capri convertible, Summer play toy :D

1994 Jeep Cherokee, Hopefully soon to be sold

1997 Subaru Legacy, sons daily driver

2002 Silverado 2500HD, my trailer puller

2005 VW Passat 4motion, my daily driver

2008 Subaru Outback, wifes daily driver

Oh yea, and the 95 Escort Wagon, and 97 Subaru GT Wagon I transfered to the Daughter this year.

Then there is the road trailer, 6 garden tractors, yard trailers .......

When I worked for Wal-Mart, WE always had problems keeping B-12 in stock on the shelves, About 3x the the sales of the SeaFoam. (somebody likes it). Most store's plans call for it to be stocked on the top shelf. So look up...

When I had my auto shop I used a lot of Berryman's products.

They have an very good Carb cleaner, I used to buy it in 5 gal

bucket, it came with a parts basket.

I would recommend there products.

I have used both seafoam and Berryman B-12 Chemtool. Not sure what the rave is on either. I never noticed a difference between the two and straight gas. They use to sell snake oil cure all`s in the 1800`s, but who knows they might work:D. Whatever makes you feel good. I have even tried all the fuel and carb cleaners in my automobiles. Never noticed a difference on them either. Maybe it is just my bad luck.

Being a truck driver, I really only drive one way, use the CC ALOT (even on secondary roads:I) , so I feel it was real and not just a placebo effect. For what it worth.... Dave

I don't think well maintained vehicles / equipment, used regularly and with good fresh clean fuel, will notice much benefit from products like Seafoam. Rough running, dirty carbs, old fuel, engines that have been sitting, I think those may be noticeably helped with fuel additives.

Or not. JMHO

id="quote">I think you're right about that but I do put some Seafoam in all myvehicles and tractors this time of year to clear out any moisture that may have accumilated over the Summer months in places like dips in the fuel line.I decarbonized an AC 5040 diesel that was carboned up about as bad as any engine I have ever seen that still ran with Seafoam and Marvel Mystery oil after about 3 tanks of fuel run thru it with the mixture it ran great and still does fellow that sold it to me was convinced it need a new engine.

Ray,

I agree a well maintained car or tractor that is used regularly with fresh gas won't see much if any improvement with Sea Foam. Since several of my cars will sit for weeks at a time I keep Sea Foam in the tank to help stabilize the fuel.

My tractors are the same way I use them all summer and all winter, but spring and fall they tend to sit. Sea Foam seems to help keep them running smooth when I need them.

Brett,

Are you suggesting I need professional help since I have five cars, five trailers, eight boats:O, and only two tractors? Where am I lacking?

Clearly I don't have enough covered space for all of these toy / tools.

Geez, I'm starting to have an inferiority complex,3 cars,1 boat, and currently 5 tractors, along with the normal weedwacker, leaf blower, chainsaws, and 1 non-running sled!

I should add that one car has over 200k, the other 100k and the newest 80k and the tractors are all about 45 years old and older!

I can't see why guys need all those cars and tractors, sled, etc. All you need is two of each. Then you can use 'em like roller skates.:D

Currently I have two cars, two tractors , one boat one jet ski and one trailer. Since I plan to sell the jet ski and boat next spring and if we are now trying to see who has the least, I think I am in the lead. sm02
